At Emma Finch Photography, I aim to provide the best in family photography and have become known for my use of natural light to create timeless, evocative images that will become part of your family's history. I want you to love these images forever. I prefer natural, location based photography for families as I believe this allows for an honesty and an intimacy which is rarely found in studio portraiture. Each photo shoot is bespoke and tailored to you personally which gives them a context and makes them meaningful to you and your family.
Where will the shoot take place?
The session can take place in a location of your choice in the Manchester/North Cheshire area. I would like the images to be highly individual and meaningful to you and your family. I want you to feel relaxed and comfortable so it could be in your garden, a local park or on your favourite walk. I can even do the photoshoot in your own home if you prefer. I prefer to shoot early in the day or later in the afternoon (any nap time permitting) as that is when the light is softest and most flattering. I can work in any season as long as there is good natural light. Each season has it's advantages, for example, you can get wonderful images in the spring blossom, the winter snow or the falling autumn leaves. If it's raining heavily, I am happy to reschedule for another day.
What will happen on the day?
I aim to make the session relaxed, fun and interesting for children. Some children are natural models and are completely at ease in front of the camera, others can be more hesitant and may need more time to get used to the camera. I aim to photograph children in a completely natural setting, looking relaxed and happy. You will never hear me tell you to 'say cheese'. I believe the best smile is a genuine one and sometimes it is OK not to. As parents, we can all tell the difference between a genuine smile and a forced one! I aim to capture the magic of childhood and so I will let the child lead the session and explore their surroundings, prompting only as needed and then I can capture their genuine reactions. My shoots last up to 2 hours which gives us time to do whatever your family likes to do- walk, pick flowers, climb trees, stop for an ice cream, or paddle in lakes. We even have time for outfit changes if necessary.
What should I wear for my photoshoot?
If there will be more than one person in the image, it is worth trying to wear complimentary colours and styles to give a cohesive look to the shot. In my opinion, it is best not to wear anything with logos, words or busy patterns near the face as they can become distracting in the image. It might also be a good idea to think about wearing a colour that contrasts or compliments the background you have chosen eg red works well against a green, natural background or yellow would be pretty in a field of bluebells. Other than that, just wear what makes you feel comfortable on the day.
How much will it cost?
Sessions start from £75 for up to 2 hours photography. This is to be paid for at the time of booking. The session fee pays for the time photographing your family and does not include digital images which start from £25 each.
I would like to book a session, what happens next?
Great! Just get in touch and we will arrange a date for the photo shoot. I want you to love these images forever and as each session is bespoke, we will discuss the sort of images you would like to achieve. I would also like to know a little about your family beforehand and what interests and excites them so that I can plan the photo shoot accordingly. I look forward to meeting you and your family soon!
What equipment do you use?
I use one of the best cameras on the market, a Canon Eos 5D4 which I love! I have various lens depending on the shoot. I won't bring my studio lights if we are shooting outdoors as I find that they can be intimidating. If required, I will use a Canon Speedlite. I am also fully insured and CRB checked.
What happens after the shoot?
You will receive a proofing gallery of at least 40 images usually within 48 hours. I will contact you with your password so that you can view the images in a private gallery on my website. You can then choose which images you would like to purchase. All images will be high resolution with full printing and sharing rights. I will either hand deliver or post the Emma Finch Photography USB stick to you. You then have full control over which images you print, how you do it and when you do it!
